What Is Sports Boulevard Riyadh?


Sports Boulevard is set to become the world’s largest urban linear park, stretching 135 kilometers across Riyadh. The project connects the city’s major valleys—from Wadi Hanifah in the west to Wadi Al Sulai in the east—creating a continuous green corridor for sports, recreation, culture, and entertainment.


Key features include:

  • Over 134 km of green pedestrian pathways
  • 220 km of cycling routes
  • Nearly 100 km of horse-riding trails
  • More than 50 sports, leisure, and cultural destinations
  • Restaurants, cafés, retail outlets, hotels, and entertainment venues integrated along the route


The Eight Zones of Sports Boulevard Riyadh

1. Hanifah Valley Zone (Wadi Hanifah)

  • 20 km stretch from Diriyah to Jeddah Road
  • Shaded green landscapes and walking paths
  • Dedicated cycling routes for professionals and amateurs
  • Horse-riding trails, bike maintenance centers, cafés, and retail outlets

2. Arts District

  • 3 km zone featuring pedestrian, cycling, and horse-riding paths
  • Museums, libraries, art studios, conference halls, and cultural forums
  • Designed as Riyadh’s creative and cultural hub


3. Entertainment District

  • 4 km between King Fahad Road and Othman bin Affan Road
  • Amphitheaters, cinemas, performance venues, and exhibition spaces
  • Interactive audiovisual shows and climate-cooled outdoor parks


4. Urban Wadi Zone

  • 3.5 km along Al Aysen Valley
  • Water canals, bike lanes, seating areas, and investment zones
  • Direct connection to King Abdullah Financial District


5. Environmental Zone (Eco District)

  • 14 km along Al Sulai Valley
  • 40 km elevated professional cycling route plus amateur tracks
  • Jogging paths connected to neighborhoods

6. Athletics District

  • Between Othman bin Affan Road and Airport Road

8. Red Sand Park (Sands Sports Park)

  • Southeast of King Khalid International Airport
  • Over 20,000 sq km of desert-inspired recreational space

When Will Sports Boulevard Open?


Construction began in October 2021, with phased openings starting in 2024.


The Cycling Bridge and Promenade—the first publicly accessible elements—are scheduled to open in early 2025, with full project completion expected by 2029.
